Premium Interior Design & Supply

About

If you really want to invest in your interior and ensure everything is considered in detail, this is where you can collaborate with an experienced designer with the skill set, imagination and creative know-how to create a dream Interior transformation.

Every project is well considered, from a total refresh, to starting with pieces you already treasure. We work together to find out what you love and to also push your boundaries, fine-tune your ideas, and show you some new ones. We’re here to work on producing wonderful concepts, work with the best suppliers and to take care of the much more complex detailed technical aspects of a project, where the finer details create the sleekest of finishes. Our vast brand and product knowledge means you’ll be presented with items you may not ordinarily find; unique pieces, beautiful fabrics and custom furniture. We’re not a ‘one trick pony’, we’re a design studio that works on each project with new eyes, ensuring that the Interior you have will be entirely your own.

We’re here to create the lifestyle and look which you deserve. The service we provide though isn't just about supplying products from beautiful brands, but is also about the 'devil in the detail'; from technical plans, to helping you with contractors and supervising or advising on the process to ensure smooth running.  We can make what can be a stressful and expensive process much easier. We’re here to help with the minor to the major, and everything in between; even down to installation, styling and handing over your new space. This work comes in 2 essential parts.

when to get help

Short of time? Want to invest in your home? Want great design and access to unusual brands? Stuck in a rut, bought a new property or working on a new build? The Interior Designer should be the first person you hire. Read our blogs for some insight.

Getting started

Before we can set a fee we need to understand more about your project and make sure we are a good fit to work together.

All projects start with an initial design consultation (detailed above), which you can book on the website. During this meeting we will take a look at your project and we can talk about a whole range of things - e.g. scope, lifestyle, functionality, budget, aesthetic and so on. While there you'll get lots of initial ideas and inspiration that you can take away from the meeting as well. The consultations allows us to understand the full scope of your project and accurately prepare a fee proposal for the work you want to do.

If you think that would be a helpful get booked in; I only offer a few consultations each week and these can book up a few weeks in advance.

SCOPE

  • 2 rooms minimum (excluding miniature rooms)

  • We can work on all rooms in your home to ensure a cohesive look.

MINIMUM PRODUCTS INVESTMENT Expectations

Before we can begin creating something wonderful we absolutely need a products budget to work with; We need to know if we’re shopping, ‘John Lewis’ or ‘Harrods’, or mixing and matching, if you catch my drift? Everyone's idea of a ‘reasonable amount to spend’ and quality expectations will be completely different like they would when shopping for fashion. Designer or replica? Top quality, or do we make a few compromises? Without any guidance we could spend £3000 over the ‘budget’ we knew nothing about. On the flip side we also wouldn’t want you to be disappointed if we selected a sofa from Made.com when you’d actually love to have something ‘made bespoke’.

As a design practice we also pride ourselves on being able to delight clients a diverse and quality selection of products, brands and custom work. We’ve spent a lot of time curating the best brands ad skilled craftsmen to work with and only want to present products to clients which we think will meet their expectations of quality and design. This though this is only accessible at a certain price point of realistic investment, therefore we take on board projects with minimum investment expectations per space (read on) both so that we can meet a certain standard of work and because the supply of products is an essential part of the business . We'll approve your project based on this and then we'll need to discuss this openly in more detail the exact parameters and expectations, and we can advise on this if you need help. Read our blog on this complex subject and use our helpful investment worksheet to understand what your budget will get you.

Therefore, to access these products, we set minimum product investment expectation alongside each project we take on board:

MINIATURE SPACES            £2000 +

SMALL SPACES                        £15000 +

MEDIUM SPACES                  £25000 +

LARGE SPACES                        £50000 +

WHOLE HOMES                     £120,000 +

To help you understand how to budget and what your money will get you read out blog on this complex process and download out Investment worksheet.

deposit

We only take on a select number of project a year to ensure we can dedicate the right amount of time to each one. To secure the time in our diaries for your project we'll require to take a deposit for each space a commencement date will then be confirmed. . Read T&C's.

NOTE on sourcing and procurement fees

As part of the project we are supplying all products and with the aim of complete transparency, we do add a percentage onto all products we source. This fee goes towards our sourcing time, administration and time needed in the event of a problem arising after delivery. Please avoid any temptation to purchase the sourced items directly or use this list to bargain hunt for similar pieces. Sourcing and supply are key elements of our business so if you wish to take our designs and purchase the products/similar yourself, this will incur an additional sourcing fee. This will be based upon a percentage of the total specified goods value. The designer may make a few exceptions but these will be highlighted.

what's includeD & WHAT TO EXPECT

Screenshot 2023-08-31 at 16.02.06.png
CREATIVE MEETING

During this meeting, we'll delve into the specifics of your project, thoroughly addressing your requirements and considering any samples or ideas you've gathered. Our primary goal is to ensure that our designs align seamlessly with both your aesthetic preferences and functional needs, ultimately delivering the perfect outcome. The inspirational meeting offers you an opportunity for a relaxed and comprehensive conversation covering every aspect of your project. We'll explore each room, discuss your future plans, delve into how each space will be utilised, and even explore colour schemes. This in-depth discussion often sparks new design concepts that we'll incorporate into your updated project brief and scope. Furthermore, this meeting serves as a pivotal step in our planning process. It allows us to chart the course for your project, including identifying and coordinating with any specialised consultants, such as structural engineers, as well as liaising with any external agencies that may play a role in your project's success.

To make the most of of this important first stage in your project read our blog post on how to brief us, furthermore we recommend printing out and filling in the briefing worksheet prior so nothing get missed or forgotten.

VALUE ENGINEERING

By agreeing to start your project we'll have set a minimum budget. However at this point we can go over the exact perimeters and expectation of this in more details. Whatever the budget may be we'll be doing our best to value engineer the project so that we're investing in the products that will add the most value to your property, get the most wear and tear and which elevate the design.

Screenshot 2023-08-31 at 15.57.05.png
SITE MEASURE-UP

During this initial phase, our team visits the property to take detailed measurements and assess the existing conditions. This crucial step ensures our designs perfectly align with I the realities of the space. If the space is full of furniture or being reconfigured, we may need to revisit this in Stage 2 prior to commissioning products.

OR PLANS
PROVIDED
A1 architects-plans.jpg

This is how we start all projects to understand the furniture placement and ideal size. We'll start with an initial plan as a guide for ourselves for sourcing; illustrating to to scale on the floor plans. Once we have your exact furniture selection we'll update this so you can see how the space will be arranged.

However, if we think it's relevant to your project we may take this a step further and send you a proposal for a larger reconfiguration of the space, such as moving a wall or door. Once we receive approval from yourself and the qualified contractor we'll proceed on the design development. Check out our space planning portfolio to understand how we might suggest re-configirations of your property.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
& RESEARCH

Good things aren't rushed.  We expect this stage to take several weeks as we work on your space; develop the concept, technical documents, liaIse with brands and trades on quotes and samples, sourcing, playing around with your budget and resourcing to make it work, taking a step back whilst we wait for inspiration to hit, curating and visualising our final selection. Not only that we'll be working simultaneously with other clients on their projects which will perhaps be at different stages such as Phase 2. Read our blog on the complexities of design development.

ACCESS TO OUR

We invest vast amounts of time into the business outside of the design projects themselves; as well as extensively researching online retailers and visiting showrooms. We also go to Interior Design trade shows across Europe; from Decorex in London, to Maison et Objet n Paris, and visit the Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour as often as possible. we’re on a mission to stay on top of ’what’s new’, learn from the industry’s best, to test out and feel ‘the goods’, and to find the best trade suppliers to work with. We’ve laboriously catalogued the brands and our favourite inspiring products so that we can present to clients unique and interesting items, whilst also making ourselves much more efficient. We’ll be using our skills to select what we think are the best items for your design and budget, these items will have been chosen for a variety of reasons from quality, dimensions and detail.

We've also invested a huge amounts of time creating a list of trusted, quality suppliers with jaw dropping design. We utilise our industry expertise to present products for you to select. Please note our service supplies all products to your project. Check out just some of the variety of shows we've attended in our blogs.

LITTLE
BLACK BOOK
CUSTOM PRODUCTS

We work with a variety of talented suppliers to create the finishing touches to our schemes. We design custom joinery from shelving, to bunk beds, vanities and whole Kitchens. We work directly with a talented and trusted local specialist furniture maker and Joiner on all our projects. Over the years we worked with and recommended a variety of Joiners, but we found that building a stronger relationship with one supplier was so much more beneficial. We also work with a select few companies who can create furniture (beyond custom Joinery) that’s really special in endless options of finishes and materials; we’re able to bring you something unique. From beds, to metal work and cabinets..

Ring of Light Bulbs
LIGHTING PLANS

Lighting is essential for creating the right ambiance and sockets and switches need t be practically placed in ,line with the furniture. We'll create technical plans for you contractors to follow.

FINISH PLANS

These specify the materials/finishes for floors, walls and ceilings (e.g. types of flooring, paint colours or wallpaper). What colour, finish and where? We'll make sure it's clear for you, the fitters and the decorator.

Screenshot 2023-12-04 at 07.42.57.png
WALL ELEVATIONS

These provide a view of a wall as if you are standing directly in front of it. They are used to detail elements like cabinetry and other built in features so that we can both accurately tender for quotes and workmen can follow clear plans for production and installation.

Screenshot 2023-08-19 at 22.17.31.png
VISUALS

2D visual plans are super useful to aid aesthetic planning (what looks good next to what) and our whole design process. Of course though these also service as brilliant illustrative tools for clients to visualise how their space will look. Typically we do one for each wall of the room. During the design concept presentation we'll be sharing these with you.

For an additional fee we can have 3D visuals produced; this could be especially  useful on larger or more complex projects.

DESIGN CONCEPT
PRESENTATION

This is the exciting bit where the project is revealed. It conveys the overall aesthetic of the project, including colours, materials, textures and inspiration. This is when we'll gather everything together from the moodboard, to the visuals, the overall products proposal, and the technical plans, along with all our gathered samples to present and discuss. We'll talk you through our thought process and details of the products selection.

Screenshot 2023-12-01 at 15.12.59.png
2 MINOR CHANGES

We'll have carefully curated everything from the smallest of details and we encourage you to not focus on one product, but trust in the vision as a whole with the designer you've hired; this creates the strongest of designs. However, if there's something that just doesn't feel right or you forgot to request something, please ensure to discuss this with us and we can look at alternatives. Don't worry we won't be offended, this is your space and  we're here to make it just right.

2 minor changes include for example changing a cushion design or adding an extra shelf or change of finish to your built-in-unit. This does not include large changes such as a change to the colour scheme or complete redesign of your built-in-unit. Any further change requests beyond the 2 minor changes per space, or larger changes which will require additional work will be quoted for separately. Please note that changes to the brief once the designer has started the project will also be accounted for.

APPROVAL

Hopefully you'll be just be as excited as us about the project design and you'll sign off the products proposal and design documents. Please note that at this stage all installation products will be estimates only; in Phase 2 we'll need to liaise with your contractors prior to purchase to get approval on installation technicalities and quantities. Furthermore as a result of any changes some minor additional re-sourcing or design work may be required in Phase 2.

We'll then raise an invoice with any delivery fees included. To ensure that we don't loose sourced pieces or incure changes to quotes we'll need to start phase 2 procurement immediately, this means the invoice will be due on receipt. Delays to payment may incure additional resourcing fees.

This marks the ends of Phase 1. Yes!!!

PHASE 2

what's includeD & WHAT TO EXPECT

This is an essential piece of work for the ongoing project. This becomes marginally more time effective the larger the project we're working on as we can consolidate some site meetings and communications. However every project is different; some clients or contractors may need more support or guidance, and older buildings tend to throw up many more surprises which lead to additional work to accommodate required changes.

You’re spending a significant amount of money and expectations for the dream finish is high, so a renovation no matter how big or small can be stressful. It will be complicated and messy long before seeing that beautifully styled finish, we're here to guide you through the process.

534050776-huge.jpg
PROCUREMENT
STAGE 1

We’ll take care of the headache of the purchasing and co-ordination of all products to site, and the detailed commissioning of products; if there are any issues we’re here to take care of it.

We'll snap up all the freestanding furniture and accessories so that we don't loose anything, and we'll confirm commissioning custom products to secure the quotes.

Screenshot 2023-12-04 at 14.55.47.png
INSTALLATION
PRODUCTS & PLANS

It’s obvious that interior designers are not a expert professional installation contractors such as electricians, plumbers, decorators, joiners, floor fitters, etc. Furthermore, each site may throw up different issues that'll affect installation, and construction, plus variations on quantities may occur dependant on each contractors technique.

When we create a project proposal we'll have done this work to the best of our ability both practically and aesthetically. However installation products such as radiators or flooring, and technical plans such as lighting or joinery will needs to be verified for the technical aspects and quantities by the relevant tradesperson installing.

This may be much later in the projects progression and the efficiency of this work will depend on the contractors communication. Any delay confirming this information may lead to delays to the project, wrong products ordered, mismatched batches and negative effects on the budget. Dependant on their opinion we may need to spend additional time resourcing alternatives, adding additional products or re-working technical drawings.

PROJECT CO-ORDINATION,
& IMPLIMENTATION
SITE MEETINGS

This is not typical project management where there is someone on site constantly to oversee the entire project. Our strengths are in design and that is a whole other full time role. On that note, you may want to consider hiring someone specifically on larger projects. However, we know that finding trusted contractors is a challenge so we offer a project co-ordination service whereby we can recommend an order of works and we’ll liaise with your contractors to ensure things run smoothly and efficiently. We’ll also have supplied a variety of technical plans for your tradespeople to follow. It’s impossible to be experts in each given area such as tiling, plumbing, decorating, so we’ll have completed these to the best of our ability. So, over the course of your project we’ll need to co-ordinate with the relevant tradesperson to ensure they are implemented correctly, with both the best technical and aesthetic outcome. Many aspects of a project can be done digitally, but onsite meetings are often essential to ensure everyone is on the same page, talk through the different aspects and to trouble shoot any foreseeable problems with installation.

SCHEDULE OF WORKS

Where to start? That can be a daunting head scratching prospect! We'll create a schedule of works so that you'll know who and what comes first.

Screenshot 2023-08-31 at 16.20.13.png
DELIVERIES

Your lovely new products will start winging their way towards you! However, we have two options for this; please ensure to inform your designer which one you'd prefer.

OPTION 1 - HASSLE FREE FOR ADDITIONAL FEE

Products can be sent to a receiver company who’ll check and store all products until they're required on the project. They'll then be delivered in staged phases and any issue are taken care of between the receiving company and designer. This'll take some additional designer time to organise and liaise, plus fees from the company. However, this will make the project so much more streamlined and hassle free. If you value a premium service, you're short of time or don't feel comfortable organising and tracking, this is the service for you.

OPTION 2 - CLIENT HANDLING

Products will be delivered directly to site from the suppliers and all aspects of checking for damage, ticking off your list, safe storage and locating for installation become the clients responsibility. This will also be the case if received by the clients contractor.

All products need to be inspected for damage within 24 hours of receipt and if any issues are found this needs to be raised in email to Magpye with evidential photography. Some companies will not accept any issues raised after 24 hours so this timeframe is important. No matter what, we'll always do our best to assist you in finding a solution to the best of our ability. However, if issues are found at a later date this may result in making it impossible to solve with a free replacement, or incur delays to the project in sourcing and procuring a replacement which may have a long lead time.

You'll need to be very organised for this task and if you're not this could create confusion, delays to your project and additional costs. If you chose this option please use our helpful labels to clearly identify and store your products. Also read our inspection and storage blog for some helpful tips.

cannot-put-skip_edited.jpg
GENERAL SUPPORT
& ADVICE

Any renovation will be stressful but keep in mind the end goal; this will be a short period of discomfort in exchange for years of enjoyment. We've see many renovations and have seen what goes both right and wrong! We'll be here throughout the process to give advise and to support you where you may need it, even if its moral support. Read our blogs with some of our top tips for making a rennovation as pain free as possible.

FINAL SPACE
INSTALLATION

We can unbox all those gorgeous products and get everything into it's place.

Furthermore, those final finishing accessory touches really matter! A badly hung picture can be a real eye sore on a beautifully finished project.....especially if hung on an expensive wallpaper!! It really does pay to have someone there in person supervising those last bits and pieces with a handy man. Once we're finished we'll dispose of all packaging and can co-ordinate a cleaner.

PROJECT COMPLETION
& PHOTOGRAPHY

Documenting completed projects and inspiring future clients is an essential way for our business to grow. Therefore each project is only complete once we get professional pictures of the space.

We aim to complete this within a few weeks of all aspects of the installation and snags being completed and we'll require a minimum of 1 day access to complete this essential work. We'll likely bring a variety of props to swap out personal items and to accessorise spaces we may not have covered with your project. You'll also get the opportunity to purchase some of these items from us if any catch your eye! As a thank you we'll be leaving you with a little gift to enjoy in the space. Project completed!

We usually name each project after the road or the house, so to maintain client privacy we can (on request) change your project name to a pseudonym.

We accept projects and price them based on completing photography at the end for our portfolio and marketing purposes. If you do not wish pictures to be taken please indicate this when briefing as this may affect us taking on board the project, or we will adjust fees to reflect the loss of marketing material. Please read T&C's for more information.

Cheers
